10-8-6-15

I want to start a routine with the rep scheme of 10-8-6-15. Did Vince have a specific routine for that rep scheme?

Thanks,

Anthony

Dear Anthony,

Yes, you can start with any routine you prefer, or there is a very specific one outlined in the course that is available that is good. But remember, the "10,8,6,15" was designed specifically to break a rut -- I spoke about this a short time ago. "10,8,6,15" is just another brilliant Iron Guru innovation called "muscle confusion." However, I would recommend all his other confusion methods before attempting this technique -- but it is your choice. Vince use to say there is no right way or wrong way of working out until you prove right is right and wrong is wrong. Think of the "10,8,6,15" as your "ace in the hole." Save it for when you really need it.

If you don't mind, I'll tell you a little funny story that helps to explain just how misunderstood Vince Gironda was. About 1990 I was at NSP West in LA and a very famous fitness trainer came in to buy some NSP supplements. He, Ray, and I started talking about Vince and his methods, and this famous individual (in fact, he was known as a "guru" himself) said, "I still don't know what the $#@! he’s talking about." When he left, Ray and I almost died laughing.

Liver tablets and the "one-two punch"

When Vince recommends taking ten liver tabs every three hours, was he referring to the 30-grain tabs?

Dear Charlie,

When Vince recommended liver tablets in his manuals, the liver of that day was 1000 mg. In the late ‘70s, 1500 mg and 2000 mg came into vogue. Now I just carry the 2000 mg (31 grain). They are much less expensive. Don't forget that Vince always recommended liver and glandular tablets as a "one-two punch."

One important note: Try to chew the liver and glandular tablets. Remember, digesting starts in the mouth. It's not how much you eat, but how much you digest. As far as vitamins go, unless they are time-release, also chew them. NOW, DON'T SAY UGH!!! As I see it, most North Americans are lazy, undisciplined, spoiled brats. Vince shared my view. That's why he would throw loafers out of his gym. You’ve got to love him, eh? He loved hard workers like Larry Scott.
