| August 1, 2008 We
Support Canadian Bodybuilding
So far this year, weve traveled to 13
competitions and watched over 1,000 people compete. While we were there, we shot over
32,000 photos and wore out two professional-grade cameras. Thats a lot of work, and
the year is only half over!
We do this much work for two reasons. One reason is that we
enjoy doing it we wouldnt do it otherwise. The other reason is that we want
to support Canadian bodybuilding and the competitors who take part in it. In our opinion,
traveling to these contests, taking photos, and then writing articles here is the best way
to give them our support.
Obviously, this level of involvement is time-consuming as
well as tiring. But we think its worth it. Like I said, we enjoy doing it.
Furthermore, one of the things we enjoy is being at the grassroots level and discovering
new talent before anyone one else does. For example, last month we wrote an article about
Andrey Yashenko, the winner of the OPAs 2008 Ontario Provincial Championships. We
actually wrote about Andrey last December as
well. Those were the first articles written on Andrey, and were willing to bet they
wont be the last. Andrey is one of Canadas rising stars that other magazines
will likely "discover" when he competes on the national scene. The truth of the
matter is that SeriousAboutMuscle.com was there first.
Its a similar story with Che Chamungwana, an
all-natural bodybuilder from Ontario whos featured on our cover this month. We first
featured Che last July when we saw him compete at
a local show. Since then, Ches gone on to win provincial as well as national-level
titles. That cover photo was taken when he won his class at the 2008 OPA Ontario
Provincial Championships in June. The previous week he won the Overall title at the 2008
CBBF National World Qualifier that was held in Winnipeg.
Its now August and were scheduled to travel to
two more contests this month, one of them being the IFBB North American Championships that
will feature about 400 competitors from Canada, Mexico and the United States. In the fall,
well likely be at as many shows as we were at in the spring, taking just as many
photos, if not more.
As I said, our goal is to support the Canadian bodybuilding
scene as best we can and have some fun while were doing it. So thats exactly
what were doing and we hope that youre enjoying what were doing too.
